The US government has approved a $510 million sale of bomb equipment to Israel, including a bomb guidance kit used to guide bombs to a specific target in an attack.
The announcement from the United States came after Israel used a large amount of ammunition in its recent conflict with Iran.
"The (proposed) sale will help Israel address current and future threats, allowing it to better protect its borders, critical infrastructure, and human settlements," the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said in a statement.
The statement added, "The United States is committed to Israel's security. Ensuring that Israel's self-defense capabilities remain strong and ready is critical to the national interests of the United States."
The US State Department has approved the sale of these equipment to Israel, and DSCA has notified Congress of the sale. However, Congress has not yet given its approval.
On June 13, Israel carried out a major airstrike targeting Iran's nuclear facilities, scientists and top military officials. Israel wants Iran to halt its nuclear program. Iran says its nuclear program is for civilian purposes. However, the United States and its allies believe Iran is seeking to develop nuclear weapons.
During Trump's first term as US president in 2018, he withdrew the United States from the Iran nuclear deal. For weeks, he sought a diplomatic solution to return to the nuclear deal with Iran. But he ultimately decided to take military action against Iran and ordered a US strike on the country's nuclear facilities.
A ceasefire between Iran and Israel was reached last week, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he will never allow Tehran to build a nuclear facility again, raising fears of another conflict in the future.
