Prosecutor Mizanul Islam said that the testimony of three defendants, including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in the case of crimes against humanity committed during the July uprising may be completed by October.
He said this in response to a question from journalists at the International Crimes Tribunal premises on Sunday. Mizanul said, "We hope that the testimony of witnesses in this case, except for the investigation officer, can be completed by September. If it is too late, it may go to the first week of October next month."
Testimony was taken against Sheikh Hasina and three others, including former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, at the tribunal today. They are vegetable seller Abdus Samad, Mizan Mia and Naim Sikder. Their cross-examination was completed by state-appointed lawyer Md. Amir Hossain.
This morning, the police brought former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, the accused in the case, to the tribunal in a prison van from prison.
