The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) meeting approved 10 projects with a total cost of Tk 6,506.50 crore. Of this, government funding is Tk 3,821.58 crore, project loan is Tk 2,428.4 crore and the organization's own funding is Tk 2,568.9 crore.
The approval of these projects was given on Sunday at the NEC conference room on the Planning Commission premises under the chairmanship of Chief Advisor and ECNEC Chairperson Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
The projects include 5 new projects, 2 revised projects, and 3 projects with term extensions without cost increases.
Planning Advisor Wahiduddin Mahmud; Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul; Home Affairs and Agriculture Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.); Industry and Housing and Public Works Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan; Power, Energy and Mineral Resources and Road Transport and Bridges and Railways Advisor Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan; Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Water Resources Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hassan and other relevant officials participated in the ECNEC meeting.
The approved projects are: Sustainable Agriculture Development Project in Rangpur Region through Expansion of Modern Technology of the Ministry of Agriculture; Modernization and Capacity Enhancement Project of 33/11 KV Outdoor Substation in Existing Industrial Areas of 'Bapbibo' of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.
'BMR of Carew & Co. (BD) Ltd. (2nd Revised)' of the Ministry of Industries; 'Establishment of Rabindra University Bangladesh' of the Ministry of Education; 'Establishment of Burn and Plastic Surgery Units in 5 Scheduled Medical College Hospitals (Sylhet, Barisal, Rangpur, Rajshahi and Faridpur) (1st Revised)' of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare; The Ministry of Housing and Public Works' 'Construction of multi-storey residential flats for government employees inside Azimpur Government Colony in Dhaka (Zone-C. Construction of 2 multi-storey residential buildings for officers and employees of the Fire Service and Civil Defense Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs'; the Ministry of Local Government's 'Dhaka Environmentally Sustainable Water Supply (Third Revised)' and 'Expansion and Development of Safe Water Supply and Sanitation System in Bandarban Municipality and 3 Upazila Headquarters of Bandarban District and Surrounding Areas (1st Revised)' projects.
In addition, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications' project 'Establishing a telecommunications network in the Mirsarai Economic Zone of Chittagong' has been approved.
At the meeting, the Planning Advisor informed the ECNEC members about the 9 projects that have already been approved.
