Family members of the July martyrs and injured people have left the road in front of the Secretariat with an 'ultimatum' to fulfill their demands.
They left the road at around 3:15 pm on Tuesday. Earlier, they blocked the road in front of Gate No. 2 of the Secretariat at around 12:30 pm. They demanded the resignation of Professor Asif Nazrul, the legal advisor to the interim government.
While leaving the road, the protesters said that the Legal Advisor should explain to the Chief Advisor by next Sunday why the accused in the July murder are getting bail. The Chief Advisor should make that explanation public. There was a police attack on the protesters during today's program. They demanded a visible trial from the Home Advisor in this regard.
Announcing the next program, Shaheed Tayyim's brother Rabiul Awal said, the legal advisor has called for them to discuss. But they have rejected it. They have given time until next Sunday. In the meantime, if the legal advisor does not explain the bail of the accused and there is no visible justice in the police attack incident, they will start the movement again.
Rabiul Awal warned that if their demands are not met by next Sunday, they will demand the resignation of the Home Affairs Advisor as well as the Legal Advisor. Families of the July martyrs and injured people from all over the country will participate in that program. The movement will be held in front of Gate No. 2 of the Secretariat.
At around 11:15 am today, members of the family of the July martyrs and the injured first protested in front of the National Press Club. Later, they took a procession and took a position in front of Gate No. 2 of the Secretariat. This brought traffic to a standstill on the road in front of the Secretariat.
During the sit-in, the protesters raised various slogans. These slogans included 'Resignation, resignation, resignation, Asif Nazrul's resignation', 'One point, one demand, Asif Nazrul's resignation', 'Murderers roam outside, what is the judiciary doing', 'My brother is in the grave, why is the murderer outside', 'My brother's blood, I will not let it go in vain'.
The families of the July martyrs and the injured said that the accused in the July massacre are taking bail in exchange for money. Advisor Asif Nazrul must resign immediately. They also demanded the removal of the judges.
Before the sit-in, the families of the martyrs and the injured people of July tried to take out a procession towards the secretariat but were stopped by the police on duty. At that time, a scuffle broke out between the families of the martyrs and the injured people and the police.
