A letter has been sent to the local police, mayor, and the local office of the US State Department requesting them to take action regarding the incident that occurred at the Bangladesh Consulate General in New York, USA.
The Bangladesh Consulate General in New York issued this letter. This information was given in a press release of the Bangladesh Consulate General on Monday.
The press release said that on the occasion of the first anniversary of the July Mass Uprising Day, a view-exchange meeting was held at the Bangladesh Consulate General in New York last Sunday. The chief guest was Md. Mahfuz Alam, Advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. In addition, about 150 guests from the Bangladesh community, including Bangladeshi students, were present at the event. For security reasons, the New York City Police deployed sufficient police personnel before the event began at the request of the Bangladesh Consulate.
The press release said that with the intention of disrupting the exchange of views and with a violent attitude to directly attack the chief guest, leaders and activists of the US Awami League and its affiliates took a position in front of the consulate from 5 pm. They raised various slogans against the Bangladesh government. They started abusing the guests in obscene language. At one stage, they chased the arriving guests and prevented them from participating in the event. They also resorted to various other misdeeds. As part of which, they threw eggs at the guests. They very shamefully hit the glass door of another office (in the same building) adjacent to the entrance of the consulate. This cracked the door. The police prevented the miscreants from such destructive activities. Some of them were arrested. The stills and video footage of this shameful and destructive activity of the miscreants have already been given to the police as evidence. They have assured that appropriate legal action will be taken in this regard.
The press release said that the supporters of the fallen fascist government remained around the consulate with the Awami League party flag until midnight with the intention of harassing and killing the chief guest. However, the police were present throughout the entire time for security reasons. The chief guest reached the venue on time and without any hindrance on the designated route to enter the consulate by car to participate in the program. After a lively exchange of views, greetings with the guests and dinner, the chief guest reached his destination in the designated car without any untoward incident. After the chief guest left, the police left the venue. The Consulate General has already written to the local police, mayor and the local office of the US Department of State requesting them to take action against the miscreants.
The press release said that the chief guest did not have any kind of meeting or even the slightest connection or association with the miscreants during his arrival or departure from the event. Despite hundreds of efforts, the cronies of the fallen fascist government could not achieve their dishonest objectives. Having completely failed in this task, they are spreading various misinformation and propaganda on various digital platforms including social media. The Consulate General requests everyone not to be misled by such false information and propaganda.
