Students have complained about the slow of lines outside voting centres and a lack of proper training for those involved in the voting process.
This information was gathered from conversations with students at various voting centres at the Dhaka University campus area.
After casting her vote outside the Dhaka University Club, Tasnuba Kabir, a student from the 2020-21 session, said, “Although there is sincerity, it seems that those deployed at the centre lack proper training from the university authorities. Even after I mentioned my voter number, I was initially told that this wasn’t my centre. Then, even after showing my ID card, the person couldn’t find my number on the list. Later, I found it myself by checking the list.”
Sabrin Jawad, a student from the 2020-21 session, said, after voting at the centre located at TSC, “Those inside and outside the voting centre are quite sincere. However, there is a lack of coordination among them. This wouldn’t have happened if they had received adequate training. The slow voting pace is due to this lack of coordination. I hope the authorities will take appropriate measures.”
When asked about this, the Chief Returning Officer assigned to the TSC centre said, “There is no hassle. It takes time because voters have to cast 41 votes.”
