Voting for the 38th Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election has been completed. Voting began at 8 am on Tuesday. Voting continued till 4 pm in 8 designated centers.
This time, 471 candidates are contesting for 28 posts in DUCSU. On the other hand, there are 1,035 candidates competing for 234 posts in 18 halls.
Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed said in the afternoon that more than 70 percent of votes had been collected in various centers by 3 pm.
He also said that students who remain in line after 4 p.m. will have their votes counted.
Meanwhile, the University Teachers Link (UTL) election observation team has commented that the overall atmosphere of the DUCSU elections was good, except for minor complaints and some isolated incidents.
After observing the vote, they told reporters on Tuesday, "Everyone is voting, standing in long lines; it's very encouraging. Everyone's participation will make this election memorable."
Regarding the allegations of violation of the code of conduct, UTL representatives said that some irregularities were found in one or two cases. However, the university administration is sincere. However, there is some misunderstanding among the students regarding the violation of the code of conduct. Those who are candidates will be able to enter the center. And outside 100 meters, they will be able to give voter slips. If it is within 100 meters, it is definitely a violation of the code of conduct. However, overall, it was a good election.
