Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election results have been rejected by Chhatra Dal panel vice-president (VP) candidate Md. Abidul Islam. At the time of the announcement of the results on Tuesday at 2:20 am, he wrote on Facebook, 'I estimated this result of planned rigging just after noon. Set the numbers as you wish. I reject this planned farce.'
Voting was held in DUCSU from 8 am to 4 pm on Tuesday. Although the voting was conducted in a peaceful and festive atmosphere, tension arose from the evening. The results were announced at the center after 1:30 am. At the beginning, it was seen that the candidates of the Islami Chhatra Shibir-supported panel United Student Alliance are leading by a huge margin in various positions in DUCSU, including Vice President (VP), General Secretary (GS) and Assistant General Secretary (AGS).
While the vote announcement was underway, Sheikh Tanvir Bari Hamim, the GS candidate of the Chhatra Dal panel, also posted on Facebook at around 2:20 am. He wrote, 'If the students of Dhaka University think that this is their verdict, then I respect this verdict. I am waiting for the students' reaction.' He also wrote, 'Although there was a festive atmosphere in the voting ceremony that lasted from morning to afternoon today, irregularities were observed in some centers. Especially in the counting process, machine errors, fraud and rigging were observed.'
Sheikh Tanvir Bari Hamim also wrote, 'However, dear Dhaka University students, I am always indebted to you, to your love. I have been with you, am with you, and will be by your side as long as I live.'
Umama Fatima, VP candidate for the Independent Student Unity Panel, wrote on Facebook at around 2:30 am, "A circus is going on. Who is watching?"
