Students of government and private technical educational institutions, including Dhaka Polytechnic Institute, have lifted the road blockade at the Satrasta intersection in Tejgaon in the capital.
However, the protesting students are staying at the Satrasta intersection. Traffic has resumed at the Satrasta intersection after the blockade was lifted.
Protesting students blocked the road at Satrasta intersection at around 11:15 am on Wednesday demanding four points. The road blockade stopped traffic at Satrasta intersection. This created severe traffic jams on the roads concerned. Passengers and drivers suffered due to the traffic jam. The protesting students withdrew the road blockade at around 2 pm.
The students protesting under the banner 'Karigori Chhatra Andolan Bangladesh' said that they have withdrawn the road blockade for now. However, they will remain at the Satrasta intersection. Traffic will move through the empty part of the road.
The four-point demands of the protesting students are: ensuring maximum punishment for those who publicly threatened to kill diploma engineers by the Engineering Rights Movement; immediately stopping all activities conducted by the state in support of the unreasonable three-point demands of B.Sc. engineering students; fully implementing the outline and recommendations of the logical six-point demands raised by the Technical Students' Movement, Bangladesh, and introducing engineering one-channel education.
Technical Student Movement Bangladesh President Md. Mashfiq Islam said that teachers are also expressing solidarity with the students' movement. In today's movement, teachers from four technical educational institutions including Dhaka Polytechnic Institute and Dhaka Women's Polytechnic Institute expressed solidarity with the movement.
