After the Rajshahi University Central Student Union (RAKSU) elections, the Chittagong University Central Student Union (CHAKSU) elections have also been postponed. The new date for the elections has been set three days later, on October 15.
According to the previous announcement, the election was scheduled to be held on October 12. However, the Chaksu Election Commission has decided to postpone the polling date by three days as the candidates' campaigning time has been reduced due to the Puja holidays.
Election Commission Member Secretary Professor Dr. KM Ariful Haque Siddiqui confirmed the matter at 4 pm on Tuesday (September 23). Earlier, a new date was set in an emergency meeting of the Election Commission at 2 pm.
In this context, KM Ariful Haque Siddiqui said that due to the holidays, the candidates could only campaign for five working days. Candidates and general students also expressed concerns about this in the exchange of views meeting. Considering the matter seriously, the commission has postponed the voting date after discussing with the university administration.
The university will have a puja holiday from September 28 to October 2. According to the announced schedule, the final candidate list will be published on September 25.
