Rangpur businessman Ashraful Haque was lured into a love trap by his friend Zarezul Islam and his girlfriend Shamima Akhter alias Kohinoor (33) in order to extort Tk 1 million. For this, Shamima had a fake love affair with Ashraful a month ago. Later, Zarez Mia and Shamima brought him to Dhaka, murdered him and cut his body into 26 pieces.

RAB-3 Commander Lt. Col. Fayezul Arefin gave this information at a briefing held at the RAB Media Center in Karwan Bazar today (Saturday).

Fayezul Arefin said that on the morning of November 14, RAB-3 arrested Shamima Akhter from her home in a special operation in the Boro Bijra area of ​​Laksam, Comilla. On November 11, at 8 pm, businessman Ashraful Haque left Rangpur for Dhaka with his friend Jarezul Islam, a resident of the same village, to collect his business-related dues. When Ashraful's family contacted his mobile phone the next morning, it was disconnected. Later, on November 13, police recovered the 26-part body of an unidentified man inside two blue drums adjacent to a water pump at the High Court. After analyzing the fingerprints, the CID confirmed that the body was that of the missing businessman Ashraful Haque.

He said that on that night, the deceased's sister filed a murder case with Shahbagh Police Station, accusing Ashraful's friend Jarezul Islam. Later, an investigation was launched into the incident and Jarezul's lover Shamima Akhter was arrested. Later, according to the information she provided, the deceased Ashraf's blood-stained white pyjama-panjabi, along with the rope used in the murder, scotch tape, a round-necked shirt and a pair of shorts were recovered from the Nurpur area of ​​Shanir Akhara, with his face tied up inside a sack.

He also said that George had been in a love relationship with Shamima for more than a year. George told Shamima that he could blackmail one of his friends into a love trap and get 10 lakh taka. George would take 7 lakh taka of this money, and Shamima would get 3 lakh taka. According to that plan, Shamima started communicating with the deceased Ashraful Islam on her mobile phone a month ago and tried to attract him. They continued to talk on their mobile phones through regular audio and video calls. Later, at 8 pm on November 11, George left for Dhaka with the victim Ashraful. After arriving in Dhaka, George and Ashraful met Shamima on November 12 and rented a house in the Nurpur area of ​​​​Shani Akhara, Dhaka, for 5,500 taka. The three of them moved into the rented house together.

Fayezul Arefin said that before coming to Dhaka from Rangpur, George told his girlfriend Shamima Akhter on the phone to record an intimate video with Ashraful and show it so that she could collect 10 lakh taka. According to the previous plan, Shamima made the victim Ashraful faint by giving him sleeping pills along with Maltar syrup. So that Ashraful would not understand if George recorded the intimate moment from outside. Later, when they spent some time alone, George recorded the video from outside. The video was recorded on Shamima's mobile, which is currently on the recovered mobile.

Quoting Shamima, the RAB official further said that on the afternoon of November 12, when Ashraful became completely unconscious, George tied Ashraful's hands with rope and covered his face with scotch tape. George, agitated after taking excessive Yaba, started hitting the unconscious victim Ashraf with a hammer. Ashraful died on the spot due to excessive injuries and the scotch tape covering his face.

He further said that on the morning of November 13, with the intention of disappearing Ashraful's body, George bought a chapati and a drum from a nearby market. George cut the body into 26 pieces with the chapati and filled them in two blue drums. Later, at 2:43 pm, they rented a CNG and loaded the two drums into CNG and left home at 2:52 pm. On the way, they changed the CNG and left in another CNG, thinking that they might be caught. When they reached the High Court Mazar Gate at 3:13 pm, seeing the activity of law enforcement agencies on the road, they threw the two drums filled with the body under a big tree on the main road adjacent to the High Court water pump and quickly left for Sayedabad in an auto from the High Court area. After going to Sayedabad, George asked Shamima to go to her own house in Comilla and told Shamima that he would go to her own house in Rangpur. Accordingly, Shamima went to her own home in Comilla and cut off contact with George.

He further said that according to the information given by Shamima, their main objective was to earn money through blackmail. However, the main accused George will be questioned to find out whether there was any previous enmity behind this brutal murder.

It is worth noting that the DB has already arrested the main accused in this murder, Jarezul Islam.
