All preparations have been made for the Bengali New Year celebrations. RAB Director General AKM Shahidur Rahman said that there will be no security problems during the event.
He made the remarks at a press conference on RAB's security arrangements for Bengali New Year celebrations in various parts of the country, including Ramna Batamul in Dhaka, on Sunday. Earlier, he inspected the security arrangements in the Ramna Batamul area.
RAB Director General AKM Shahidur Rahman said that Bengali New Year programs are organized at the district, upazila and village levels. Therefore, RAB's security will be expanded everywhere so that this program can be held beautifully everywhere.
Regarding the security risks, RAB Director General Shahidur Rahman further said that Durga Puja, the biggest festival of Hindus, was held a month after the interim government took office. At that time, questions arose about security. There were also doubts about whether the puja would take place or not. The government assured them. Members of the law enforcement agencies discussed with the puja celebration committee. The puja festival was held very beautifully. There were no security problems. After that, there were no security problems in all the events held, including Victory Day and Christmas for Christians.
The Director General of RAB said that compared to previous years, all the events this year were completed beautifully in terms of security and joyous festivities.
Responding to a question about the burning of motifs made for the New Year's procession at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University, the Director General of RAB said, "Action will be taken against those involved in the incident of setting fire to the fine arts. If there is any negligence on the part of those in charge of security there, action will also be taken after investigating."
The arson incident took place at 4:45 am on Saturday. The 20-foot-tall 'Face of Autonomy' motif, made for the New Year at the Faculty of Fine Arts, was completely burnt down. A wing and part of the tail of the 'Peace Pigeon' motif kept next to it were burnt.
