Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB) has arrested former Awami League MP and popular singer Momtaz Begum. Momtaz was arrested at around 11:15 am on Monday night (12 May 2025).
A message from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said that former MP Momtaz Begum has been arrested from Dhanmondi in the capital.
DB Joint Commissioner Mohammad Nasirul Islam told Prothom Alo that there are multiple cases against Momtaz Begum, including a murder case. She was arrested from a house behind Star Kabab in Dhanmondi around 11:30 pm. She was brought to the DB office.
Popular folk singer Momtaz Begum was an Awami League member of parliament from Manikganj-2 constituency several times.
