National Independent Investigation Commission Chairman Major General (retd) ALM Fazlur Rahman said that fugitive Awami League presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak and former member of parliament from Jamalpur-3 (Melandah-Madarganj) Mirza Azam have testified via email.
He made this statement at a press conference organized at the Science Laboratory in the capital on Wednesday (June 25) regarding the investigation into the killings during the BDR mutiny in Peelkhana on February 25 and 26, 2009.
Fazlur Rahman said, "14 important people, including Sheikh Hasina, have been called to testify. They are very important witnesses for us. But so far it has not been possible to take their testimony."
He said, "Two fugitive politicians have given us their testimonies through e-mail. One is Mirza Azam, the other is Jahangir Kabir Nanak. They have given us written statements. We are reviewing them. Everything is being investigated. The results of the review will be seen in the final report."
