Comilla District Police have arrested a total of 5 people, including the main accused in the rape of an expatriate's wife in Muradnagar, Comilla, on charges of recording a video of the victim and spreading it on social media.
Fajr Ali was arrested from Sayedabad, Dhaka, around 5 am on Monday (June 29). The police did not initially reveal the names of the arrested persons.
The Comilla District Police have arrested a total of five people, including the main accused in the rape of an expatriate's wife in Muradnagar, Comilla, on charges of recording a video of the victim and spreading it on social media, according to the police headquarters.
Earlier, a press release signed by Comilla District Superintendent of Police Nazir Ahmed Khan said that on the night of June 26, Fajr Ali of Ramchandrapur Panchkitta village in Muradnagar was arrested and beaten by the people of the area on the charge of raping the wife of an expatriate. Later, the injured Fajr Ali fled from there. Some people present at the scene immediately recorded a video of the victim and spread it on social media.
Upon receiving the news, Muradnagar Police Station quickly reached the spot and took legal action. Based on the victim's written statement, a case was registered at Muradnagar Police Station under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act.
Muradnagar Police Station has already arrested three people who recorded the video of the incident and circulated it on social media. Action will be taken against the three arrested under the existing law.
The victim filed a rape case with Muradnagar Police Station on Friday afternoon (June 27). Her husband is an expatriate in Dubai.
According to the case report and the victim, it is known that about 15 days ago, she came to her father's house from her husband's house with her children. At around 10 pm on Thursday, a man named Fajr Ali (38) went to her father's house and asked her to open the door. At that time, she refused to open the door. At one point, the man broke down the door of the house and raped her.
