Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-138, carrying 387 pilgrims from Madinah to Chittagong, got stuck on the runway while landing. It got stuck at the end of runway-23 at Shah Amanat International Airport at 9:30 am today, Saturday, due to a mechanical fault. Due to this, flight operations were suspended for about two hours. Flight operations returned to normal at 11:30 am.
Airport Public Relations Officer Ibrahim Khalilullah told that the plane was safely moved from the runway to the apron at 11:20 am after the mechanical fault was fixed. Due to this, the runway of Chittagong Airport was closed for about 2 hours. Air traffic has now returned to normal.
Passenger Abdur Rahman said, "The plane took off from Medina, Saudi Arabia, at 11:30 pm last Friday. It was raining heavily when it landed in Chittagong at 9:15 am. The plane got stuck in the middle of the runway while taking a U-turn after landing. We were very scared then. The plane returned to its destination safely after about two hours."
