The International Crimes Tribunal has ordered the framing of charges in a case of crimes against humanity in the killing of Abu Sayeed, a student of Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur, during the July uprising. At the same time, the date for opening statements and taking testimony in the case has been set for August 27.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury rejected the plea of the accused to continue the trial on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, six accused arrested in the crimes against humanity case in the Abu Sayeed murder case have been produced before the tribunal. They are ASI Amir Hossain, former proctor of Begum Rokeya University (BEROBI) Shariful Islam, constable Sujan Chandra Roy, Chhatra League leader Imran Chowdhury, Rafiul Hasan Russell and Anwar Parvez. During the framing of charges, the accused claimed their innocence. The remaining 24 accused remain. Arrest warrants have been issued against them.

Earlier, the International Crimes Tribunal set August 6 as the date for ordering the framing of charges in the case of crimes against humanity in the killing of Abu Sayeed, a student of Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur, during the July 30 mass uprising.
