The impact of LDC transition has nothing to do with the removal of market privileges from the US and the European Union (EU). I have said this many times, and I will say it again. I have asked the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) to organize a seminar. I will go there and tell everyone in public that this is necessary and there is no reason to delay it.
Traders are talking about gas and electricity crisis, product shortages, transportation problems. They are talking about various things in detail. My question is, will these problems go away if the LDC transition is postponed? Traders cannot give a single reason for postponing the LDC transition. Journalists should ask traders in the ready-made garments, knitwear and footwear industries why they are not seeking LDC transition.
And trade preferences will not cease immediately after graduation from LDC. The EU will provide existing trade preferences until 2029. The UK, Australia, Canada, and China have said they will continue trade preferences.
We have a moral obligation to transition to LDCs due to UN regulations. There is no opportunity to postpone LDC transition. Even if there is, we should not take any action in this regard. We can see the storm before our eyes. We have to prepare to face the storm. We have to wake up. Now, can we just keep our mouths shut like ostriches?
