From now on, government land will not be given to any organization at a symbolic price, said Financial Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed. He said, "If any organization wants to take such land, it will take it at the appropriate price."

He told reporters after a meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Economic Affairs and Government Procurement at the Cabinet Division meeting room of the Secretariat on Tuesday.

Today, a proposal was presented in the meeting for in-principle approval to transfer 54.99 acres of land of the closed Jalil Textile Mills in Chittagong to the Bangladesh Army for Tk 17 crore for the expansion of the Bangladesh Ordnance Factory (BOF) or Bangladesh Ordnance Factory in the Chittagong region.

When asked about this proposal, the financial advisor said, "They wanted to take it, but we have proposed that it will not be given at a symbolic price. Those who want to take the land will have to pay for it. Because, if land is given at a symbolic price, it is not used properly. In many cases, even though 10 acres of land are needed, if it is given at a symbolic price, it is said that 100 acres of land are needed."
