Five more companies in the country have received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, an internationally recognized green certification, as environmentally friendly green factories. With this, the number of green factories in the country has increased to 258.

The US Green Building Council (USGBC) is a US organization that analyzes environmental protection issues at all stages of industrial construction, from building construction to product production, and awards LEED certification to factories that meet acceptable standards. This certification is also given to commercial buildings, educational institutions, homes, and other establishments.

The latest five companies to receive LEED certification are Bhaluka Raida Collection in Mymensingh, Ashulia South and Sweater in Dhaka, KDS Fashion in Chittagong, Purbani Fashion in Belkuchi, Sirajganj, and TexEurope BD in Gazipur.
