An earthquake shook the Indian capital New Delhi. The earthquake struck at 9:04 am local time today (Thursday). The magnitude of the tremor was 4.4 on the Richter scale.
The epicenter of the earthquake was in Jhajjar, Haryana, about 60 kilometers from the capital Delhi, according to the National Geological Survey of India. The quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers below the surface.
There were no reports of casualties in the earthquake. However, panic spread among the residents of Delhi and surrounding areas. Many came out of their homes in fear. Many locals said that fans and other furniture in their houses started shaking.
There are many offices in Noida in Uttar Pradesh and Gurugram in Haryana, adjacent to Delhi. The tremors were felt in those areas. Many employees of the offices in those areas are claiming that the computers in the offices shook during the earthquake. They also left the multi-storey offices in fear.

According to the country's National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), about 59 percent of the Indian territory is at risk of earthquakes.
