Israeli Defense Minister Israel Karzai has announced that their military operation will soon be "vigorously" expanded across most of the Palestinian Gaza Strip.

Israel Kartz also said the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had taken control of a "security zone" in the southern Gaza Strip. It separates the cities of Rafah and Khan Younis.

The Israeli military has ordered residents of Khan Younis and surrounding areas to evacuate, saying it is preparing to respond forcefully to airstrikes from the Gaza Strip. Hamas has denied any attacks.
