A court has granted bail to popular Dhaka film actress Nusrat Faria, who was arrested in a murder attempt case filed by the capital's Bhatara Police Station, which is centered around the anti-discrimination movement.
On Tuesday (May 20), Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court Judge Mostafizur Rahman granted his bail following an application by the accused.
Barrister Mohammad Iftekhar Hossain, the lawyer for the accused, confirmed the matter.
Nusrat Faria was arrested at the immigration checkpoint at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on May 18 while traveling to Thailand. She had a warrant against her for attempted murder in connection with the July Uprising.
He was then taken to Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court on Monday, where the judge ordered him to be sent to prison. Later, at around 2:30 pm, he was taken to Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur under police guard.
Nusrat Faria started her career as a radio jockey (RJ). Then in 2013, she entered the industry as a presenter. She also acted in a few dramas. In 2015, she made her big screen debut in the Bangladesh-India joint production film 'Aashiqui'. She received a great response in her first film.
After that, he acted in about 20 films in Dhallywood and Tollywood. His latest film 'Gene-3' was released in theaters last Eid.
Meanwhile, the arrest of Nusrat Faria has sparked a storm of criticism from various quarters. The National Citizens Party (NCP) said in a statement that such incidents are turning the judicial process into a farce.
The statement further said that former President Abdul Hamid, who was accused of the attacks and shootings during the July coup, left the country without any hindrance this month. The identities of 626 people who were sheltered in various cantonments after the coup have not yet been revealed. The fallen fascists and their supporters who were directly involved in the July genocide are still continuing their anti-citizen activities in public and on social media. As a result, the tendency to show such people and accuse them indiscriminately without bringing those directly involved in the July genocide under the law, arrest them in cases and send them to prison without bail, and trivialize the genocide trial process is being created.
