The Jahanara Alam issue is causing a stir in Bangladesh cricket. Jahanara recently accused former national women's cricket team selector and team manager Manjurul Islam Manju and late former in-charge Towhid Mahmud of sexual harassment.
He claimed that he had complained to the BCB about this but did not get any redress. Several other cricketers have since spoken out on the issue. In addition, allegations of grouping have been made against several important cricketers currently playing in the national team. The BCB has been shaken by this.
In view of this, the BCB formed a three-member inquiry committee on Saturday (November 8) to investigate allegations of code of conduct violations by the national women's cricket team. The country's highest cricket body announced the matter in a press release.
The three-member search committee is convened by former Supreme Court of Bangladesh Appellate Division Justice Tariqul Hakim. The members include BCB director Rubaba Daula and Bangladesh Women's Sports Association president and Supreme Court senior advocate Barrister Sarwat Siraj Shukla.
