The interim government believes that there will be no major change in the US position on Bangladesh after Donald Trump is elected US president.

Responding to questions from journalists on Thursday evening, Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Towhid Hossain expressed this opinion.

When asked about the challenges in Dhaka-Washington relations after Donald Trump is elected president, Towhid Hossain said, "There is no need to speculate anything in advance. We will see for another two months, there is time. Then Donald Trump will take charge, and what steps he takes will depend on that... He (Trump) did not say whether relations with Bangladesh will be good or bad, he did not say anything."

The Foreign Affairs Advisor said that relations with Bangladesh are not based on the party. The issues that were being discussed with the Biden administration, their demands, and negotiations were also with the previous Trump administration. Therefore, it would not be right to say that there will be any major change in the policies of the Trump administration and the Biden administration regarding Bangladesh. He said, "We will see, then we will try to communicate, then we will see."

When asked about participating in the UN conference on combating terrorism, Touhid Hossain said, "Bangladesh has once again made its position clear in the conference, we are against all forms of terrorism. Along with this, Bangladesh has also said that if the root cause of terrorism is not removed, then the conference will not work. Anti-terrorism activities are increasing, at the same time the number of terrorist attacks is also increasing. That means the activities being taken are not working."
