Bangladesh has restricted visas for Indians, reversing its decision to issue visas in bulk. The Kolkata Deputy High Commission was given this instruction in a confidential official letter on Thursday (December 5). However, nothing has been officially announced yet.
The Kolkata High Commission has started implementing the instruction from Friday (December 6).
Mission sources said that the instruction to reduce visa issuance has come to Kolkata from Dhaka. The implementation of the instruction has started from Friday. However, no such instruction has been given in the case of Delhi or Assam missions.
Earlier, after miscreants attacked and vandalized the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, Tripura, the Bangladesh government suspended all activities there. All the processes of issuing visas to Indians were stopped.
