A court has sentenced former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to seven years in prison, totaling 21 years, in three cases for abusing her power and allocating 10 kathas of government land for a new city project in Purbachal, the capital.
Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun of the Fifth Special Judge's Court in Dhaka will announce the verdict on Thursday (November 27) at around 12:15 pm.
The same court on November 23 set November 27 for the verdict in three cases filed against Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and daughter Saima Wazed Putul, alleging irregularities and corruption in plot allocation.
The total number of accused in three separate cases is 47. However, since one person is accused in multiple cases, the number of accused as individuals is 23.
