Lebanon’s Agriculture Ministry has reported that ongoing Israeli attacks since March 2 have damaged 22% of the country’s cultivated land, according to its first weekly assessment since the escalation began.
The ministry said approximately 46,479 hectares of agricultural land have been affected, with the majority of damage concentrated in the South and Nabatieh governorates, accounting for 44,297 hectares. Other regions reported 2,181 hectares affected.
Fruit trees, olive groves, greenhouses, and small- to medium-sized farms were the hardest hit. The report also highlighted the impact on livestock and related industries, including the loss of nearly 49% of beehives and 39% of fish stocks, alongside varying losses in cattle, sheep, and poultry.
Officials warned that widespread displacement has further heightened the risk of food insecurity, disrupting farming cycles and reducing available labor for recovery efforts.
