BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital. Security has been tightened at the hospital for Khaleda Zia.
It is learned that police barricaded the main gate of the hospital from 2 am on Monday. No one except the concerned people is allowed to gather there.
Hospital sources said police personnel have been deployed to ensure smooth movement of patients and their family members, prevent crowding around the hospital, and strengthen Khaleda Zia's security.
Earlier, the government declared former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia a 'very important person'.
The 80-year-old veteran politician has been suffering from multiple complications including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes and kidney, lung, heart and eye problems for a long time. Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital on November 23 after being diagnosed with heart and lung infections. Since then, local and foreign doctors have been continuing her treatment.
