BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia will be taken to London after midnight today in a 'critical' condition, said her personal physician and party standing committee member Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain.
He gave this information to reporters outside Evercare Hospital in the capital on Thursday (December 4) afternoon.
Dr. Zahid Hossain said, "As per the unanimous decision of the medical board comprising local and foreign doctors, we will take her (Khaleda Zia) to London after midnight today or tomorrow morning through Qatar Airlines, InshaAllah. Several doctors from both the country and abroad will accompany her."
He asked the countrymen to pray for Khaleda Zia. He also said that the party's acting chairman Tarique Rahman and Khaleda Zia's family have expressed gratitude to everyone. He also expressed gratitude to various embassies in Dhaka.
Meanwhile, citing multiple high-level BNP sources, BBC Bangla reported that Tarique Rahman's wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman is coming to Dhaka from London. Preparations are underway to take Khaleda Zia to London for advanced treatment.
Khaleda Zia was rushed to the capital's Evercare Hospital after she suddenly developed breathing difficulties on November 23. She is currently in the hospital's Coronary Care Unit (CCU).
The BNP has said that Khaleda Zia is in a 'very critical condition'.
The 80-year-old former prime minister has been suffering from various physical complications, including heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, liver cirrhosis, and kidney problems, for a long time.
