BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's physical condition has improved somewhat, but it is not suitable for air travel. That is why her trip abroad for advanced treatment is being delayed. Whether she will go to London for treatment or not now depends entirely on her physical condition. She will be taken to London only after the medical board formed to treat Khaleda Zia decides.
Meanwhile, the air ambulance arranged by the Qatari government to take Khaleda Zia to London has sought permission to arrive in Dhaka on Tuesday. If everything is fine, including the former prime minister's physical condition, it will leave for London the following Wednesday.
On Saturday evening, a doctor from the medical board told that the BNP chairperson's condition has improved slightly. However, she is not in a condition to travel. It is not possible to say when this will happen. However, the board is optimistic that she will be able to travel abroad for advanced treatment. She is given sleeping pills every day. She tries to talk occasionally.
The doctor said that several tests were conducted on him on Saturday as well. The medical board met at night to decide the next course of action based on their reports. The parameters are rising slightly. He said, 'Madam's daughter-in-law, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, is coming to the hospital twice a day. She is also working in coordination with the medical board.'
Khaleda Zia's younger brother Shamim Eskander said, "I am in the hospital round the clock. Her personal physician AZM Zahid Hossain has briefed her. She (Khaleda Zia) is in the CCU for the most part."
The air ambulance provided by the Qatari government to take the BNP chairperson to London has sought permission to arrive in Dhaka on Tuesday. If permission is received, it will depart for London on December 10.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has approved the schedule of the air ambulance flight to take Khaleda Zia to London, specifying it as 'VVIP'. The Shahjalal International Airport Authority has already given clearance for the flight to land. A responsible official of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) confirmed the matter.
BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital due to her physical inability to travel by air for a long period of time, is in stable condition, said her personal physician Zahid Hossain. He said whether Khaleda Zia will go abroad for treatment now depends entirely on her physical condition.
At a press briefing in front of Evercare Hospital around 4 pm yesterday, Dr. Zahid said, 'The Qatari air ambulance could not come for Khaleda Zia due to a technical fault. However, a medical ambulance has been kept ready. The medical board feels that the most importance should be given to her current physical fitness. The medical board decided that it would not be right for her to fly at this time.'
The medical board has announced that Khaleda Zia's London trip will be delayed due to her physical inability to travel for a long time. Zahid Hossain said in the briefing, "The air ambulance is ready. Even though it is ready, Khaleda Zia's good treatment and safety are taking precedence.
