Local Government and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud and Information and Broadcasting Advisor Mahfuz Alam submitted their resignations to the Chief Advisor. The Chief Advisor accepted their resignations.
The chief advisor then said to the two young men, "The interim government will always remember your contributions. The nation will never forget what you have given to the nation in such a short time."
Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam made these remarks at a briefing in front of the chief advisor's residence, Jamuna, on Wednesday (December 10) evening.
Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said that Information and Broadcasting Advisor Md. Mahfuz Alam and Advisor to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives and the Ministry of Youth and Sports Asif Mahmud submitted their resignations to Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus at 5 pm today. The advisors submitted their resignations at the State Guest House Jamuna, which was accepted by the Chief Advisor. Their resignations will be effective with the announcement of the Election Commission schedule.
The press secretary also said that after accepting the resignation letters of these two student leaders, who led from the front lines in the July mass uprising, the chief advisor wished them well in their future lives.
Addressing them, the Chief Advisor said, "The nation will remember the way you contributed to the nation's liberation from fascist rule by leading the uprising. I believe that you will play a similarly active role in the democratic transition and development in the future as well."
The Chief Advisor further said, "Today is a historic day. The interim government will always remember your contributions. I wish you a bright and prosperous future. The nation will never forget what you have given to the nation in such a short time."
He said, "This is just a transition. I hope you will make even greater contributions to the larger community in the future."
Urging the two student leaders to work for the betterment of the country through their work, the chief advisor said, "The experience you have gained from being in the government must be put to good use in your future life."
