BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman paid deep tribute to the martyrs of the great Liberation War of 1971 at the National Memorial in Savar.
He paid his respects at the National Memorial shortly after 10pm on Friday. Later, at 10:37pm, he signed the memorial's visitor's book while sitting on the bus.
Tarique Rahman visited the grave of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman on Friday afternoon, the second day of his return home. Thousands of leaders and activists welcomed him along the entire road from Gulshan to Zia Udyan.
Tarique Rahman received the greetings of the leaders and activists on the way. He waved and expressed his best wishes. Later, Tarique Rahman reached the Zia Udyan area at 4:45 pm. He paid homage to his father Ziaur Rahman at the tomb with the members of the BNP standing committee. Then he participated in the prayers and supplications. At this time, he was seen with tears in his eyes.
After visiting Ziaur Rahman's grave, Tarique Rahman left for the National Memorial in Savar at 5:04 pm on the same bus. He entered the National Memorial shortly after 10 pm.
