Inquilab Manch has been blocking Shahbagh intersection in the capital since noon demanding justice for the murder of its spokesperson, Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi. They have announced that they will remain at Shahbagh tonight.
On Friday (December 26), after Friday prayers, Inqilab Mancha leaders and activists, including students and the general public, took a protest procession from Dhaka University's central mosque to Shahbagh intersection. At that time, they blocked traffic in Shahbagh.
It was observed on the ground after evening that the protesters were continuing their movement. As a result of the blockade, traffic movement through Shahbagh intersection has been stopped.
The gathering of students and the public continued to grow in Shahbagh since evening, following the call of the leaders of the Inqilab Manch and the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU).
Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of the Inqilab Manch, said at the evening blockade program, "We gave the government until December 25 to arrest the murderers. The government has failed. Now the movement will continue continuously. The government has not been able to provide security for Osman Hadi. Now the government cannot resign until the murderers are arrested. Resignation is not a solution, the only solution is to arrest the murderers."
He said, "We, the people, have come to the streets to avenge the blood of martyr Usman Hadi. We will not leave Shahbagh until the government's advisors come here and answer in front of the people. We will stay overnight. The blockade program will continue until the murderers are arrested."
