Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's funeral will be held on Wednesday after Zohr prayers at Manik Mia Avenue adjacent to the South Plaza of the National Parliament. The burial will be next to the grave of martyred President Ziaur Rahman at Chandrima Udyan.
Legal Advisor Asif Nazrul gave this information in a briefing after the advisory council meeting in the afternoon. He said that BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir participated in the meeting on a special invitation. He informed the advisory council about the funeral and burial on behalf of Khaleda Zia's family and the party.
The special meeting of the Advisory Council began on Tuesday with a minute of silence. Asif Nazrul said, like the entire nation, those in the government are also grieving. The Advisory Council meeting adopted a three-day state mourning proposal from Wednesday on the death of Khaleda Zia. Tomorrow is a general holiday.
The government will provide all kinds of support for the funeral and burial. The chief advisor recalled Begum Zia in the meeting. The chief advisor had a meeting with Khaleda Zia at the last army headquarters. He recalled that day in the meeting.
The legal advisor said, Begum Zia's contribution to the country's history will remain indelible. The passing of such a leader is a special moment. Everyone is saddened. Everyone should show due respect and maintain discipline at the funeral and burial.
According to the decision of the Advisory Council meeting, a condolence book will be opened on the death of Khaleda Zia in all Bangladesh embassies and high commissions around the world.
