Former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's funeral has been completed. She was buried with state honours at the Zia Udyan in the capital after the funeral prayers on Wednesday afternoon, next to the graves of the late President and her husband Ziaur Rahman.
The eldest son and acting chairman of the party, Tarique Rahman, was the first to visit Khaleda Zia's grave. He personally laid his mother to rest in her grave.
The work of burying Khaleda Zia next to the grave of late President Ziaur Rahman at Zia Udyan began at 4:15 pm today. Tarique Rahman was seen going down to the grave at that time. He came up a little after 4:30 pm after burying his mother in the grave.
Earlier, Khaleda Zia's namaz-e-janaza was held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building on Wednesday (December 31) afternoon. The funeral was attended by people from all walks of life, including Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, members of the Advisory Council, top leaders of BNP, leaders of various political parties, diplomats, and dignitaries.
