Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said that Begum Khaleda Zia's philosophy and values will guide the development of our partnership.
Jaishankar made this statement in a Facebook post after meeting with BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Wednesday.
Jaishankar wrote on Facebook, "After reaching Dhaka, I met Tarique Rahman, the acting chairman of BNP and son of former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Begum Khaleda Zia. I have delivered a personal letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to him. I have conveyed my deepest condolences on behalf of the government and people of India."
The Indian Foreign Minister further wrote, "I believe that Begum Khaleda Zia's philosophy and values will guide the development of our partnership."
Jaishankar arrived in Dhaka this afternoon on a short trip of a few hours to pay his last respects to Khaleda Zia. He is scheduled to leave Dhaka in the afternoon.
It is noteworthy that Jaishankar is the first Indian minister to visit Dhaka after the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, 2024.
