BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said that fascist Sheikh Hasina will never be freed from the responsibility of Khaleda Zia's death. Khaleda Zia's illness worsened due to not being given the opportunity to receive treatment abroad. Finally, she had to surrender to death.
He made these remarks while reading Khaleda Zia's biography just before the funeral at Manik Mia Avenue on Wednesday (December 31).
He said, Khaleda Zia fell ill due to lack of proper medical treatment while being imprisoned in a dark prison for more than 2 years from February 8, 2018, in a false case, accepting Sheikh Hasina's personal revenge. The entire country is witness, she entered the prison on foot, but came out of the solitary prison with extreme illness. According to doctors at home and abroad, the illness worsened after four years of house arrest, when she was not given the opportunity to receive treatment abroad. Finally, she had to surrender to death. Therefore, the fascist Sheikh Hasina will never be free from the responsibility of this death.
Regarding Khaleda Zia, Nazrul Islam said that her personal popularity, organizational capacity and inflexibility in the interests of the country have led political opponents to consider her as a personal enemy, failing to confront her politically. The national leader was imprisoned during the dictatorial Sheikh Hasina, Hussein Muhammad Ershad and even the so-called One-Eleven governments.
This member of the BNP standing committee said, fascist Sheikh Hasina only ousted the national leader from the house where her martyred husband was remembered to take revenge. She sentenced her to 17 years in prison on false charges. Yet she did not compromise with the hegemonic politics. She did not compromise on the issue of freedom of expression or voting rights. As a result, she became the inspiration for the fight against the fascist regime.
Nazrul Islam Khan said, "Today, the leader is free from all charges. She is in front of us at the funeral, bathed in the respect and love of millions of people. On the other hand, those who sent her to jail, those who made her homeless, could not eat the cooked food, were forced to flee. A death warrant is hanging over her head. Ershad had to endure a long imprisonment, and the heads of eleven governments were also forced to leave the country."
Nazrul Islam Khan said, no one could force Khaleda Zia to compromise till the end of her life. She stayed with the people. She said, we have friends abroad, but no masters. She became the Prime Minister three times because of the love of the people.
