Former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's final farewell has been completed with state honors.
She was given a guard of honour by the armed forces at the capital's Zia Udyan at around 4:25 pm on Wednesday (December 31). She was then buried next to the grave of her husband, former President Ziaur Rahman.
Earlier, the funeral prayer of the former prime minister was completed at around 3 pm. The funeral prayer began at 3:03 pm and ended at 3:05 pm under the leadership of Abdul Malek, the khatib of the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram.
President Md. Shahabuddin, Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and advisors of the interim government attended the funeral. In addition, senior military and civilian officials, including the chiefs of the three services, attended the funeral.
