The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is adamant on its decision not to play in the T20 World Cup in India. In a video conference with the ICC on Tuesday, the world cricket governing body requested Bangladesh to change its position. However, the BCB has made it clear that they will not go to India due to security concerns. At the same time, the board reiterated its demand for Bangladesh's matches to be held outside India.
This important video conference between the BCB and the ICC was held on Tuesday afternoon. The BCB later confirmed the content of the meeting through a press release.
The ICC argued at the meeting that the tournament schedule had already been announced. Changing the venue or schedule at this last minute would be logistically complicated. Therefore, the organization requested Bangladesh to reconsider their decision not to go to India.
However, the BCB is adamant in its position. Citing the security risks, the board made it clear that it is not possible to play in India in the current situation. Therefore, as an alternative, it is strongly demanded that Bangladesh's matches be held outside India.
The BCB has reiterated its proposal to the ICC to shift Bangladesh's matches to a neutral venue outside India. The BCB said that the safety and security of the cricketers, coaching staff and officials is their top priority.
A high-level delegation from the BCB participated in the video conference. BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul, two vice-presidents Sakhawat Hossain and Faruk Ahmed were present. Besides, Head of Cricket Management Department Nazmul Abedin and Chief Executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury also participated in the meeting.
