BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that if BNP comes to power, it will bring about radical changes in the country. He said that BNP has made arrangements to bring about a radical change in Bangladesh's politics by introducing a 31-point program. If BNP gets the responsibility of running the country with the support of the people, then undoubtedly, on the one hand, political changes will happen, on the other hand, economic changes will happen and Bangladesh will move forward. He said these words after offering prayers and laying wreaths at the shrine of BNP founder former President Ziaur Rahman (Bir Uttam) on the occasion of the 47th founding anniversary on Monday morning.
Commenting on repeated attempts to destroy BNP in the fight to restore democracy, he said, "BNP has struggled for a long time to restore democracy, fought repeatedly. Repeated attempts have been made to destroy BNP. BNP, like a phoenix, has returned every time with the ideals of Bangladeshi nationalism, with the ideals of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and with the ideals of Khaleda Zia."
At that time, party standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed, chairperson's advisor Aman Ullah Aman, senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, joint secretary general Khairul Kabir Khokon, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Abdus Salam Azad, central leader Mir Sarfat Ali Sapu, Kazi Abul Bashar, Saiful Alam Nirob, metropolitan BNP's North Aminul Haque, South Tanvir Ahmed Robin and other leaders of the organ were present. After placing wreaths, the leaders participated in a special prayer seeking forgiveness for the soul of Ziaur Rahman.
Mirza Fakhrul said, cases have been filed against about 6 million people of the party to destroy BNP. About 20,000 BNP leaders and activists have been killed. 1,700 leaders and activists have been disappeared. BNP has been struggling for democracy for the past 15 years, and the party's acting chairman Tarique Rahman has led this struggle from exile.
The BNP Secretary General said, "Through the people's movement, through the students' movement, we have been freed from that terrible fascist. The challenge before us now is to organize the elections scheduled for next February in a fair manner."
Stating that BNP has provided all-out cooperation to the Reform Commission, Mirza Fakhrul said, BNP has provided all-out cooperation in resolving the proposals that were brought to the Reform Commission.
Highlighting the contributions of BNP and Ziaur Rahman to Bangladeshi politics, he said, Ziaur Rahman ensured the freedom of the media and the fundamental rights of the people. He ensured the independence of the judiciary. At the same time, he introduced a free market economy in the economy, which led to a radical change in the economy. He produced the garment industry in the country through BNP, the process of exporting garments abroad began under his leadership. Later, Begum Khaleda Zia restored the parliamentary democracy system and the caretaker government system began under her leadership.
