The counting of votes for the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JACSU) and Hall Parliament elections ended at noon, but the results will be announced at 7 pm. JACSU Chief Election Commissioner Professor Md. Moniruzzaman said this on Saturday (September 13) afternoon.

Meanwhile, Election Commission Member Secretary Professor Dr. AKM Rashedul Alam said that since the election is being held after 33 years, more time is needed to ensure that no questionable situation is created.

Meanwhile, the counting of votes for the Central Parliament has been completed in 18 out of 21 halls. The counting of votes in 3 more halls is underway. Meanwhile, students and candidates have expressed their anger over the prolonged wait for the declaration of results.

Earlier, the university's vice-chancellor Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan held an emergency meeting with the Election Commission. It was decided to increase manpower and announce the results by night. But even though the night passed and it was morning, the counting was not finished.

Meanwhile, Professor Mafrohi Sattar, a member of the Election Commission, has resigned, alleging irregularities. He is a professor in the Department of Pharmacy and the president of the Nationalist Teachers Forum JU branch. He said, "A level playing field was not ensured in the election, various irregularities occurred. Many complaints have been made. I have been pressured in various ways not to resign. There was pressure on me since yesterday, but I am resigning. If I do not resign now, and later I talk about irregularities, then the question will arise why I did not resign."

However, Ferdous Al Hasan, an AGS candidate from the Integrated Students' Alliance supported by Islami Chhatra Shibir, has raised objections to his decision. He said that a member of the Election Commission resigned to question the JACSU elections.

Addressing the resigning commissioner, he further said that he has run away from the battlefield. The candidate alleged that he resigned after failing to implement the vile conspiracy he had surrounding the election.

Voting for the JACSU and HAL parliamentary elections was held last Thursday. A total of 11,743 voters were registered in this election. It is reported that about 67 to 68 percent of them voted.

The counting of votes began at around 10:15 pm that night, but it was suddenly stopped on Friday afternoon. Later, the counting of votes began again manually. In the meantime, more polling officers have been added to the counting work.
