Election Commissioners have urged officials to rise above their preferences and work impartially in the upcoming parliamentary elections. "The commission will not tolerate any kind of biased behavior. If any official behaves in a biased manner, he/she will have to take responsibility for it," the Election Commissioners warned at the 'Election Officers Conference-2025'.
About 850 upazila, district and regional election officers from all over the country participated in the conference organized by the Bangladesh Election Commission Officers Association at the Agargaon Election Building on Saturday afternoon.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said that the government has full confidence in the Election Commission. The CEC said that the commission is moving forward on many visible and invisible issues. He instructed the officials not to work in favor of any party and said, "No illegal instructions will be given from the EC. The upcoming elections are being held under special circumstances. Therefore, special preparations have to be made for the elections."
At the conference, Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Mohammad Sanaullah said that the upcoming 13th national election will be the most challenging due to the collapse of the electoral system.
The election commissioners warned officials that international standards must be ensured in this year's election. No more farces can be carried out in the name of elections.
Election Commissioner Anwarul Islam Sarkar said, "In 10 months and 10 days, the commission has proven that the Election Commission has a backbone. The commission is working with a strong backbone. It is not working out of anger or resentment towards anyone."
Election Commissioner Rahmanel Machud, giving a message from a religious perspective to the officials, said that holding fair and impartial elections is a trust placed on the commission. Just as the price will have to be paid for it in this life, so too will the answer be given in the hereafter.
He also said that the commission has been left behind in the election. There is no alternative to holding good elections.
At the conference, EC officials assured the commission of their utmost cooperation in restoring people's trust in voting. At the same time, they presented their various demands to the commission.
