Fourteen BGB platoons have been deployed to maintain overall law and order and ensure security in the capital Dhaka and surrounding districts.
The BGB has been deployed to prevent and ensure security in the capital and its surrounding areas after the Awami League announced a lockdown program in Dhaka on November 13 (Thursday) to prevent incidents such as cocktail explosions and vehicle arson.
On Wednesday (November 12) morning, BGB Headquarters Public Relations Officer Md. Shariful Islam told the media that the BGB has been deployed to maintain overall law and order and ensure security in the capital Dhaka and surrounding districts.
Of these, a total of 14 BGB platoons, including 12 platoons in the capital Dhaka and two platoons in the surrounding districts, have been deployed. It is learnt that the BGB will remain deployed until further instructions.
The verdict date for the ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and three other defendants in the case of crimes against humanity committed during the mass uprising in July last year has been announced for November 13. The banned Awami League has called for a 'lockdown' program in the capital Dhaka in response to the verdict.
