Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md. Mahfuz Alam has expressed confidence that the winners of the Notun Kuri 2025 competition will, through dedication and hard work, earn recognition in Bangladesh’s cultural landscape. He made the remarks on Saturday while addressing the award ceremony of “Notun Kuri 2025” at the Bangladesh Television (BTV) Auditorium in Rampura, Dhaka.
Congratulating the winning children, the adviser said that as the future generation of the country, Notun Kuri participants must continue practicing cultural activities while also nurturing their talents across various fields. Highlighting the contribution of parents and teachers, he noted that their guidance played a key role in the children’s success.
Referring to the July mass uprising, he told the children: “Many of you witnessed the July movement and may even know some of the martyrs. This event (Notun Kuri) has been organized to inspire you to walk the path of the dreams they envisioned for Bangladesh.”
Notun Kuri Returns After 20 Years
Discussing the revival of the competition after two decades, the adviser said the initiative was taken last July and, after a lengthy process, the event has now been successfully concluded with the awarding of the winners. He thanked the BTV Director General and all related officials for completing the competition within a short span.
He added that the Notun Kuri initiative has renewed hope for the preservation and global recognition of Bangladesh’s cultural heritage. He expressed optimism that the next government would also continue this tradition.
Winning Child Artists Will Lead Future Arts and Literature
Special guest Mahbuba Farzana, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, said that the award-winning child artists will become future leaders in arts and literature, taking Bangladesh’s cultural identity to greater heights.
Top Ten Participants to Be Included in BTV’s Artist Panel
In his presidential address, BTV Director General Md. Mahbubul Alam said that the competition was completed within just one and a half months due to the adviser’s direct instructions and sincere efforts. He announced that the top ten performers from each category of the competition will be directly enlisted as BTV artists.
Additionally, BTV’s children’s program “Shishu Prohor” will now feature only participants from the top ten of Notun Kuri, and the program will air every Friday.
A Total of 73 Child Artists Awarded
A total of 73 child artists from the “Ka” and “Kha” categories, securing first, second, and third places in various disciplines, received awards at the event.
The first-place winners received Tk 2 lakh, second-place winners Tk 1 lakh, and third-place winners Tk 50,000, along with trophies and certificates.
Earlier, on 13 November, the “Ka” category champion Priyosi Chakraborty and the “Kha” category champion Shubhomita Talukder received cheques of Tk 3 lakh each and trophies from the Chief Adviser.
