Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said that the commission wants to ensure a level playing field for everyone in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election.
He made the remarks at the opening of the second day of the Election Commission (EC) dialogue with political parties on Sunday (November 16) morning. During the meeting, the CEC called for party-wide adherence to the code of conduct.
The CEC said, "We will face elections very soon. Everyone's cooperation is needed to make the upcoming elections acceptable and transparent. The commission wants to create a level playing field for everyone."
The EC held a dialogue with six parties, including the Gono Forum, at the conference room of the Election Building in Agargaon in the capital from 10:30 am today. The dialogue is scheduled to continue until 12:30 pm.
The other parties are Gano Front, Islamic Front Bangladesh, Islamic Unity Alliance, Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP) and Bangladesh Jatiya Party.
Apart from this, the EC will hold dialogue with Bangladesh Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Bangladesh JSD), Bangladesh National Awami Party (Bangladesh NAP), Trinamool BNP, Krishak Sramik Janata League, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis and Islami Andolan Bangladesh from 2 pm to 4 pm. Currently, 53 parties, including BNP and Jamaat, are registered with the Election Commission.
