The writ seeking directions to ban the activities of 11 political parties including Bangladesh Awami League, Jatiya Party has been withdrawn. At the same time, the writ seeking directions for issuance of rules as to why the 10th, 11th and 12th National Assembly elections should not be declared illegal has also been withdrawn.
In view of the application of the petitioners' lawyers, the bench of Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Mahmudur Razir passed the order on Tuesday (October 29).
Ahsanul Karim, the lawyer of the petitioners in the court, said that the petitioners do not want to pursue the writ application. Because of this, the High Court has dropped the writ petition from the agenda.
Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, Sarjis Alam and Hasibul Islam filed the writ yesterday (October 28).
