UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has reiterated the UN's continued support for Bangladesh on the Rohingya issue.
He made this assurance while speaking at a function at the new UN building in Gulshan, Dhaka, this morning (Saturday).
Recalling the contribution of Bangladeshi peacekeepers to UN peacekeeping missions, Guterres said they are playing a vital role in this regard. During the meeting, he also discussed the reform initiatives of the interim government of Bangladesh.
Guterres today visited the new UN building in Gulshan to tour a photography exhibition marking the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh's membership in the UN and to officially hoist the UN flag.
He visited the building after a meeting with the UN Country Team in Bangladesh. Guterres and Adviser on Industries, Housing and Public Works Adilur Rahman Khan jointly inaugurated the 'UN House in Bangladesh' in Gulshan.
