BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is returning home after a long four months. Thousands of leaders and activists have already gathered at the airport and surrounding areas to welcome her. The entire area is filled with slogans. In this situation, security has been tightened in the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport area of the capital. The army is also working alongside the law enforcement agencies.
Such a scene was seen on Tuesday (May 6) morning. A visit to the scene showed that a large number of police, armed police and RAB members were stationed around the airport and at various places on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway. Army members were also seen alongside.
A senior official of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said on condition of anonymity that traffic control may be imposed on the Airport Road for some time for security reasons. Maximum preparations have been made to avoid any untoward situation.
On the other hand, BNP leaders and activists say that numerous party leaders and activists are and will be gathering in the airport area to welcome Khaleda Zia. The party has given strict instructions not to let anyone out on the roads.
Incidentally, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is returning home from London after four months. Her two daughters-in-law, Zubaida Rahman and Syeda Sharmila Rahman, are coming home with her.
It is learnt that the special plane (air ambulance) of the Qatari royal family carrying Khaleda Zia left London's Heathrow Airport on Monday night (May 5) Bangladesh time.
