"We have become orphans now, where will we go now? We want justice for those who killed our father," Sohana (14), the daughter of Lal Chand alias Sohag, who was brutally murdered near Mitford Hospital in Dhaka, pleaded.
Relatives took the body of the deceased Lal Chand alias Sohag from Dhaka to his home in Barguna on Friday (July 11) morning. Later, he was buried next to his mother's grave in Islampur area of Dhalua Union No. 7 of Sadar Upazila.
According to the family of the deceased, when Sohag was only 7 months old, his father Ayub Ali died in a lightning strike. Then, in the pursuit of livelihood, his mother Aleya Begum left Barguna with baby Sohag and her two other daughters and moved to the capital Dhaka. Since then, Sohag had been living in Dhaka. He had been running a shop named Messrs. Sohana Metal in Mitford, Dhaka for a long time and earned a living. He started a fight with the accused over the extortion demand of 2 lakh taka every month from that business establishment. At one point, the accused even locked Sohag's business establishment when he refused to pay the extortion money.
On Wednesday afternoon, Sohag was summoned from his house and held captive to demand ransom and pressure was applied repeatedly. When he refused to pay the ransom, Sohag was brutally and brutally stoned to death. The deceased Sohag lived with his wife and children in the area called Keraniganj Model Town, Jinjira Kadamtali, Dhaka.
Sohag's sister Fatema Begum said, "My brother was in business for about 10-15 years. He was demanded to pay a ransom of 2 lakh taka every month. The accused also wanted to take over his business. However, my brother refused to pay them the ransom. Later, they called my brother, beat him up and brutally stoned him to death."
Lucky Begum, the wife of the deceased Sohag, said, "The killers had been demanding extortion from my husband's shop for a long time. They could not tolerate my husband's business. They were demanding two lakh taka every month. My husband did not want to pay it. And that is why he had to be brutally murdered."
